classroom presentations and residencies
Let me introduce myself to students with a lively author/illustrator presentation. Follow-up with a residency where students will show you how visual tools for reading and writing pull all learners into the literacy circle.
author/illustrator presentations
I'll share the excitement of writing and creating picture books, showing lots of pictures and telling stories. Creating stories is the focus, but overcoming learning problems is a second theme. I'll share my own childhood struggles learning to write, and show how all students can use their natural drawing and telling skills to put their own stories on paper.

As one teacher said "... a wonderful artist AND story teller but to share your difficulties as a child in school with students is so helpful!"

residencies - visual tools in the classroom
Got reluctant readers and writers! Try Tellingboards, a simple verbal and visual approach to writing all students enjoy!

Give students with different learning styles a powerful learning tool for writing, reading, note taking and more.
L
et me show your students how familiar tools, drawing and telling, help them grow their ideas on paper. Then let your students show you how alternative visual verbal tools pull all learners into the literacy circle.

Residencies can be custom designed to meet your needs, for one classroom or multiple grade levels. We can focus on reading, writing, or explore the way visual tools support learners in content areas.

I bring lots of original artwork (on stands behind me) so students can see how stories grow in the process of bookmaking.
Above students are building stories using drawing and telling as their natural bridge to text.
