Expanding the literacy circle with students is exciting. Let me share the excitement with your learning community.

“  … funny, inspiring and educational for students and faculty . . . a magnificent artist, a writer with a super imagination and a great public speaker.” --Teacher, West St. School, Upstate NY

Author Presentations
Let me introduce myself to students with a lively presentation about the excitement of writing and creating picture books, showing lots of pictures and telling stories.

Creating stories is the focus, but overcoming learning problems is an underlying theme. I'll share my own childhood struggles learning to write, and show how all students can use their natural drawing and telling skills to put their own stories on paper.

As one teacher said "... a wonderful artist AND story teller but to share your difficulties as a child in school with students is so helpful!"

Workshops, Residencies
Visual Tools in the classroom
Got reluctant readers and writers! Try Tellingboards, a simple verbal and visual approach to writing all students enjoy!

For more about VISUAL TOOLS in the literacy curriculum click here.

Classroom Residencies, Teacher Workshops and In-Service Training can be custom designed to meet your needs, for one classroom or multiple grade levels. We can focus on reading, writing, or explore the way visual tools support learners in content areas.

I bring lots of original artwork (on display behind me) so students can see how stories grow.
Above students are building stories using drawing and telling as their natural bridge to text.
