“You really inspired us.  The kids can’t stop talking about you . . . I think half of the students have dreams of becoming writers." -- Librarian, Kendall NY

Author Illustrator Presentations
Let me show your students the way drawing pictures and telling stories can be the natural bridge to literacy.

I introduce myself to students, (with a display of pictures behind me) as a reluctant writer who got dragged into the book world; tricked into writing because I wanted to tell stories. I share the excitement of creating picture books, showing lots of pictures and telling stories, but overcoming learning problems is the second theme.

While discussing how story ideas grow I share my frustrating school experince, struggling with reading and writing, and the excitement of discovering I could write long after I left school.

Along the way I'll show students (and teachers) how to tap all learners natural drawing and telling skills to build ideas and share stories in pictures and text.

As one teacher said "... a wonderful artist AND story teller but to share your difficulties as a child in school with students is so helpful!"
